Exploring the: Tower Defense (Sneak Peek)
A small peek on the deeper dive I will be taking on the Tower Defense genre.
Growing up, I used to wash my parent’s car, mow the lawn, and overall helped around the house to make money to buy some videogames. And it would take a very, very long time to make enough. 3 dollars to wash a car when games were 30-60 dollars, it just wasn’t cutting it.
Luckily for me, I had access to a laptop that, while it couldn’t run many games, we had internet, even if it was dial-up internet. I remember it would take more than 15 minutes to play Teen Titans Battle Blitz on the Cartoon Network Website. But I was able to enjoy flash-games.
Through these ventures of hoping through different websites, searching for games to play either in the school’s computer lab or in my house, I stumbled upon Bloons TD. I had never seen a game like this, where enemies would go down a route and you’d place towers to prevent them from reaching the endpoint. It was simple, but very fun.
From there, I searched for more of these tower defense games and found many, and realized that tower defense games were a subcategory of strategy games.
Any games in mind?
Let me know of any tower defense games you played growing up, or any Tower defense games you've enjoyed throughout the years.
